Still Dying

....but not as quickly as yesterday. I believe the virus has slowed.

In fact my new theory is I am turning into a zombie. Who ever knew it involved so much snot.

Also, I have infected my 10 year old.

At least we can covet brains together.

Nom nom nom

I May Be Dying....

...So why the hell am I at work?

Uggg! I feel like a circus pile on a hot, summer afternoon (don't know what a circus pile is? Look here). My feeling like shit started Friday night with a sore throat. Unfortunately I was keeping my nieces that night and the kids were going wild. Woke up Saturday feeling worse but still not too bad. Did some weeding and took them to the pool. Realized I might be really getting sick when the pool made me feel chilled.

By Saturday night I was a big, whopping crybaby. Sunday I spent in the bed watching movies and whistling for my kids since I had lost my voice.

Here are some do's and don'ts about sick movie watching:

Do catch up on Celebrity Ghost Stories that you have recorded on the dvr.

Dont' watch And Soon the Darkness...it was horrible and really, loong and drawn out!

Do watch Little Voice when you see that is is FINALLY on Instant Netflix.

Don't watch Letters to Juliette (for the second time) when your husband decides to keep you company in the bed. You will be embarrassed for liking the movie the first time in light of how silly and cheesy it seems the second time.

Do or Don't? I tried to watch Like Water for Chocolate cause I loved the book but the movie was too cheesy and outdated.

We got on vacation on Thursday, which starts with a 6 hour car-ride with kids and hubby. I cannot feel this bad on vacation, people are likely to die if I do. Going to the doc today, this thing better be treatable.

As B would say, ROAR!

Soaking Up the Sunbeams

B is sick, AGAIN! Man, I am ready to dig an underground shelter and order Hazmat suits for the whole family. This makes like the 10 school-missing illness this school year. Not counting all the ones the sniffles she went to school with.

Here she is laying in the sun like a cat getting warm. Her sweet sister is shading her eyes and later brought her a blanket to snuggle under. Aaaawwww.

(Can you see Lafawnda laying on the other side of the door soaking up the sun, too.)

Bleh

After laying on the couch with a tummy ache for a while, my daughter jumped up with her hand to her mouth and me saying go to the door (the sliding glass door) which of course was locked...I jump up we get the door open as she explodes! Yikes. I stand there holding her around the tummy and hair...poor thing. It continues all evening. And guess what? Now I am not feeling so hot.
Bleh.

Recycled Post

In honor of Flu Season and the two sickies at my house I will share...

Even If My Ears Were Bleeding originally posted on www.myrtlebeachmoms.com April 2009

My head is on the verge of exploding. I have not felt this bad in a long time, maybe since childbirth or fracturing my ankle falling off a cart in Home Depot’s parking lot (we will save that story for another time). There is pain and pressure and achy-ness and general fatigue. My children cannot understand that fighting and yelling amongst themselves makes my head hurt much worse. It is inconceivable to them that they could be quiet for more than 10 minutes. Even if my ears were bleeding.

So lying here in a heap, holding my head, I am thinking of a fairy godmother who could grant a few wishes. Just a few things I want while I am unable to move or get anything for myself. Firstly, I would wish for darkness, as beautiful as today is, the sunlight is an assault on my brain. And it makes me feel guilty that I am missing out on playing with my girls outside. Secondly, I would like a large, steaming mug of coffee. For the comfort, the warmth, and the caffeine. My third wish, someone to rub my temples, neck, back, and maybe my feet, although they are one of the only things not affected by my allergies. Fourthly, to be able to walk the dog, or feel less guilty about not being able to as she forlornly stares at me through the glass door at me. Fifth? Oh, I think a hot, spicy bowl of Tom Yum soup would be great. Perfect for inhaling the lemongrass steam and letting the chili, garlic heat heal what ails me.

That’s it. That is all I want right now. I mean, a housekeeper to clean the toys up and scrub the bathrooms would be great. But I can live with the mess for another day.  Okay, one more wish, please, no more than one more day of this.

Hello Flu!

Yep, the flu is here! And by here, I mean like right beside me. First he got Zo; she had a high fever all day yesterday and all night (above is an actual moment that was too precious and pitiful not to capture on film, she fell asleep with the thermometer in her mouth). And now he is breathing down my neck just waiting for the first opportunity to take me down, too.

Today after the doctor confirmed my flu-suspicions about Zo, we headed to the pharmacy, a compound pharmacy mind you, to have the childrens Tamiflu mixed-up special for her (regular pharms don't have ANY in right now. Nice.). While the Pharmacists were mixing it up and rubbing their hands together over their stacks of gold and calculating how much more gold we would be adding to their stack, I got a call from the school...wait for it.... Bella wasn't feeling well, could I come pick her up?

I picked her up. And she was gosh darn cheery for a sick girl but we finally got home after a looong morning out!

And I hate to say it but I am feeling a little off. A little queasy, tired, heavy, achy. I don't want to say it out loud but typing doesn't count, right?  Right?!

So here we are, the girls are watching TV. And I am trying to catch up on some posts, emails, etc. while I have a minu......Sorry had to take a time-out from typing,  Zo just chucked her Tamiflu all over the floor, I put her in the shower, cleaned up the mess, frosted everything with a thick layer of Lysol, started a load of her clothes/towels on HOT in washing machine, and now I am back.

So, unless you love feeling like crap, stay away! In fact, maybe you shouldn't even be reading this. Definitely sanitize your hands and maybe your eyeballs after you finish this post.

Yours in sickness,
N

*Side note: Bella asked Saturday night (Oct 3rd) when she would get TV back, I broke it down for her: that she had been able to watch it for 3 days but she and her sister were having too much fun to be bothered. She was incensed. But glad to have it back. I told her, and the next day Zo, that there was a 30 minute-a-day time limit. However, that doesn't apply to sick days, so TV is baaackkk.

Kill Me Now...

Please. I believe I am dying a slow death anyway. I feel pain in every cell of my body. What started as an upper respiratory thing-a-ma-jig has turned into Satan's Personal Field Day on my nervous, respiratory and limbic systems. I don't even know what a limbic system is.
I read a quick headline about a guy that fell in a vat of chocolate and died. What's the problem with that? It sounds quite lovely, actually.
