I Recycle: Brussels (post from 2009)

(photo: what was left after family of 5 gobbled them up)

Think you don't like Brussel Sprouts? Have no idea how to cook them? Maybe have no idea what they are?
Well, let me introduce you...B.S. meet Blogger, Blogger meet B.S...Now that you are more familiar let me tell you how I make them and see if you like them too...

1 pack of Brussel Sprouts (they should be consistent in size and color through-out the pack)
1 pot of cold water
1 pot of boiling water
1 TB salt
3 TB butter

Soak brussells sprouts in cold water for at least ten minutes. Take out, peel off any discolored leaves, cut off bottom stem.

Have lid ready for your boiling water pot, add B.S. in a handful at a time and replace lid. This ensures that the water will keep boiling and not cool down. When all B.S. are in, set timer for 10 minutes.

When they are finished, drain, put in a lovely dish, add a few pats of butter and sprinkle with salt. Add lid on top to keep warm.

Enjoy your Vitamin C (22% of your daily) and Vitamin K (37% of your daily) and Omega 3 and 6 fats in these cute little bundles!

  1. I am not a big b.s. fan, I admit. But I haven't tried them lately, so maybe this is a sign I need to give it another go....

  2. I love brussel sprouts! Love em. I usually lay them out on a baking sheet, drizzle them with a little olive oil and roast them in the oven for a bit. Dee-lish!

  3. Happy Weekend! Your visit is a blessing! God Bless!

  4. I enjoy a good brussel sprout regularly! Another good way to cook them in to saute them in a white wine and butter reduction. Delicious!

  5. I like them with a genereous amount of pan-fried bacon chunks, does that count?
