Reading

I heart reading. I read a lot. I feel lost without a book near me. I know, bla bla bla, who cares?

But what's a blog without me running on at the mouth? I just wanted to give you a run down of some great books I have read this summer.

The Girl She Used to Be
Great story, wish it ended differently.

The Forgotten Garden
A new favorite. A very fast read!

Riverton House
Another Kate Morton, was a little slow, not like Forgotten Garden but I still liked it.

Plague of the Dead and Thunder and Ashes
I love post-apocalyptic fiction. These were great but I wish he had gotten to write the thrid because it leaves you hanging.

Same Kind of Different As Me
Good, a little hoakie or syrupy.

Now reading:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
An amazing non-fiction book about ethics in light of scientific discovery  when cells are taken from a biopsy of a malignant tumor of an African American mother in the 1950's without her knowledge or permission.

The Help
You know, you've heard about it...

Just got:
Room
Just got it today from Amazon...can't even remember what it's about.

The Gurensey Literary and Potatoe Peel Society
The lady who checked at the checkout said I would love it. What does she know about me? I hate when people strangers tell me something like that.

  1. I loved The Help! And the Potato Peel Pie Society is my book club book this month.

I know. I'm in a book club. I can't quite believe it either.

From what you have listed, you may like The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Even if you hate it, it will at least make you feel like you've been to Africa.

  2. I love this--a good book review is invaluable! :) The Forgotten Garden is on my list.

p.s. Lately, I've been reading mostly design related books and we receive the Wall Street Journal which I actually WAIT by the front door some mornings to see it delivered. I savor every moment I have with my favorite paper! BUT, I need a good book so this is a great list. xo
